1. Identify your wall type

The type of wall determines the plug and fixing screws required for solid support:

  • Plasterboard / stud walls
Hollow drywall mounted on timber or metal studs.
Heavy items must be screwed directly into studs or fixed using high-load metal toggle anchors.
  • Solid walls (brick/block)
    Solid masonry.
Requires masonry drill bits and plastic/nylon rawlplugs to expand into the brick.
  • Dot and dab walls
Plasterboard stuck to solid brick with adhesive dabs.
Requires extra-long rigifix anchors to pass through the plasterboard cavity and grip the brick behind.

2. Find the studs (timber framing)

For stud walls, we use electronic stud detectors to find the timber framing. Screwing directly into wood studs provides the strongest possible hold for heavy bookshelves, cabinets, and TV mounts.

3. Cable and pipe detection

Before drilling, we scan the wall for electrical cables and copper water pipes using multi-detectors to prevent accidental damage. Never drill directly above or below light switches or sockets.

4. Drilling & mounting safety policy

Your safety and the integrity of your property are our highest priorities. Please review our policy guidelines below:

Right to Refuse Installation

If we deem any wall mounting or drilling installation unsafe or not recommended, we retain the right to decline that specific part of the work.

Hidden Utilities & Detector Limits

We will do everything we can to ensure safety, but please note:

  • Electronic cable and pipe detectors are not 100% accurate.
  • Older buildings or buildings without recent plans often have non-standard installations or modifications that detectors cannot trace.

Clear Indication & Liability Waiver

If we cannot achieve 100% certainty about hidden utility lines:

  • We will only proceed based on the clear, explicit instructions of the property owner.
  • The owner assumes sole responsibility and liability for the request.
  • We disclaim any insurance coverage or liability for any utility damages that occur from proceeding as requested.
